Hi, I'm Steven Wayne Hempel, your candidate for Harrisville City Council. I'm running because I'm tired of hearing about issues with our local government only after they happen. We shouldn't have to put together a petition to stop our government from spending millions on services that the city hasn't requested and doesn't want.
It is unacceptable to burden our children with debt from bonds. Imagine handing a credit card to your child and saying, 'Ok. Pay it off.' It's not the legacy we should be okay with. As your city council representative, I'll work with my fellow council members and our mayor to fix the mess our current officials have created.
We have a lot of work ahead of us, but our future is bright. I envision reviving some of the excitement we once had in the city, beginning with a committee for city outreach, led by mothers and grandmothers in our community. We can fund this by auditing the millions in our budget and reallocating resources to bring Harrisville back together.
On November 4th, join me, and together, let’s get Harrisville back on track.
